Freedom Fighter was released by Millennium Games Products, a division of Malibu Grand Prix, in 1987. This was their only game before the division shut down. Freedom Fighter uses Japanese animation from the movies Galaxy Express 999 and Adieu Galaxy Express 999.

In Freedom Fighter, you are a renegade freedom fighter whose mission is to stow aboard Train 999 en route to the enemy's home base in space and destroy the evil Robot Guardian. While trying to get to the train, you must fight a colorful variety of robots, from soldiers and snipers to baseball players and hover-vehicles. When a life is lost, the game resets to its previous decision point and offers the chance to choose a different one.
